*clap clap*..one of the fastest bowlers in the history of cricket, Bree Lee has starred in a movie now! Say what?
Well, yes, it’s true. The movie Unindian that was just released recently on the 19th of August in India is full of desi-ness. With Indian touch galore, this fusion always works to get moviegoers on their feet! And why will it not? It is so interesting after all! Firang and our desi boy or gal..aah!
As wonderful as this Australian crossover film sounds, there are even better movies that we have seen in the past and you need to see them too;
1. Bend It Like Beckham
The perfect film to start off the list with; is about a young Indian girl who loves football but isn’t allowed to play because of the typical Indian parental mentality towards it! But the best part is, she does it anyway!
2. Life of Pi
One of the best films ever made in Hollywood with Indian descent, this one has a great storyline. And considering the star cast of Tabu and Irrfan Khan, we need not say anything more!
3. Slumdog Millionaire
Directed by Danny Boyle, this film is about a young boy and girl from India, born in the slums, falling in love. Sadly built on poverty and ‘Who Wants To Be A Millionaire’, this film has won eight Oscars.
4. Bride and Prejudice
The handsome firang romancing our beautiful Miss World Aishwarya Rai Bachchan; what more do we want? The Bollywood style adaptation of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice..great crossover, we say!
5. Outsourced
Recalling the awesome Todd from the funny TV Series? Well, many do not know of this movie and more than that, even more, do not know that the TV show of the same name has actually taken inspiration from the movie itself!
6. Gandhi
A must watch! Why? The great Ben Kingsley portrays the coveted Gandhi ji! An absolute delight to watch his actions and what a great film..ah, superb!
7. Eat Pray Love
Starring Julia Roberts, this film is based on a book of the same name. It is about the self discovery of a modern woman after she visits three different countries for three different purposes; one being India.
